Paget–Schroetter disease - Wikipedia
Essential thrombocythemia is an uncommon disorder in which your body produces too many blood platelets. This condition may cause you to feel fatigued and lightheaded and to experience headaches and vision changes.
It also increases your risk of blood clots. Essential thrombocythemia throm-boe-sie-THEE-me-uh is more common in people over age 50, though younger people can develop it too. It's somewhat more common in women. Essential thrombocythemia is a chronic disease with no cure. If you have a mild form of the disease, you may not need treatment. If you have a severe condition, you may need medicine that lowers your platelet count, blood Varizen Betrieb Simferopol or both.
You may not have any noticeable symptoms of essential thrombocythemia. The first indication you have the disorder may be the development of a blood clot thrombus.
Clots can develop anywhere in your body, but with essential thrombocythemia they occur most often in your brain, hands and feet. Less commonly, essential thrombocythemia may cause bleeding, especially if your platelet count is extremely high more than 1 million platelets per microliter of blood. Bleeding may take the form of:. If a blood clot occurs in the arteries that supply the brain, it may cause a transient ischemic attack TIA or stroke. A TIA, or ministroke, is a temporary interruption of blood flow to part of the brain.
Signs and symptoms of a stroke or TIA develop suddenly and include: Essential thrombocythemia is a type of chronic myeloproliferative disorder. Patch von Thrombophlebitis means the bone marrow, the spongy tissue inside your bones, makes too many of a certain type of cell. In the case of essential thrombocythemia, the bone marrow makes too many cells that create platelets. It's not clear what causes this to happen.
About 90 percent of people with the disorder have an acquired gene mutation contributing to the disease. Platelets stick together to help form blood clots. Normally, blood clots stop bleeding when you damage a blood vessel, Patch von Thrombophlebitis, such as when you get a cut. A normal platelet count ranges fromtoplatelets per microliter of Patch von Thrombophlebitis. Someone with essential thrombocythemia has more thanplatelets per microliter of blood.
If an underlying condition such as an infection or iron deficiency causes a high platelet count, it's called reactive, or secondary, thrombocythemia. Secondary thrombocythemia causes less risk of blood clots and bleeding than does essential thrombocythemia. Older people with essential thrombocythemia are at risk of complications. People who've had prior blood clots or bleeding problems related to the disease are also at risk of complications. Patch von Thrombophlebitis abnormal blood clotting of essential thrombocythemia can lead to a variety of potentially serious complications, including:.
Pregnant women with essential Patch von Thrombophlebitis have a higher risk of complications than women without the condition. Patch von Thrombophlebitis most women who have thrombocythemia have normal, healthy pregnancies. However, uncontrolled thrombocythemia can lead to miscarriage and other complications.
Your risk of complications may be reduced with regular checkups and medication, so be sure to have your doctor regularly monitor your condition, Patch von Thrombophlebitis.

Patch von Thrombophlebitis
It is strongly associated with use of tobacco products, Patch von Thrombophlebitis, primarily from smokingbut is also associated with smokeless tobacco.
There is a recurrent acute and chronic inflammation and thrombosis of arteries and veins of the hands and feet. The main symptom is pain in the affected areas, at rest and while walking claudication. Peripheral pulses are diminished or absent. There are color changes in the extremities.
The colour may range from cyanotic blue to reddish blue. Skin becomes thin and shiny. Hair growth is reduced. Ulcerations and gangrene in the extremities are common complicationsPatch von Thrombophlebitis, often resulting in the need for amputation of the involved extremity. There are characteristic pathologic findings of acute inflammation and thrombosis clotting of arteries and veins of the hands and feet the lower limbs being more common. The mechanisms underlying Buerger's disease are still largely unknown, but smoking and tobacco consumption are major Patch von Thrombophlebitis associated with it.
It has been suggested that the tobacco may trigger an immune response in susceptible persons or it may unmask a clotting defect, Patch von Thrombophlebitis, either of which could incite an inflammatory reaction of the vessel wall. A possible role for Rickettsia in this disease has been proposed.
A concrete diagnosis of thromboangiitis obliterans is often difficult as it relies heavily on Patch von Thrombophlebitis of other conditions. The commonly followed diagnostic criteria are outlined below although the criteria tend to differ slightly from author to author.
Olin proposes the following criteria: Collateral circulation gives "tree root" or "spider leg" appearance. Distal plethysmography also yields useful information about circulatory status in digits.
Skin biopsies of affected extremities are rarely performed because of the frequent concern that a biopsy site near an area poorly perfused with blood will not heal well. Smoking cessation has been shown to slow the progression of the disease and decrease the severity of amputation in most patients, Patch von Thrombophlebitis, but does not halt the progression.
In acute cases, drugs and procedures which cause vasodilation are effective in reducing pain experienced by patient, Patch von Thrombophlebitis. For example, prostaglandins like Limaprost are vasodilators and give relief of pain, but do not help in changing the course of disease.
Epidural anesthesia and hyperbaric oxygen therapy also have vasodilator effect. In chronic cases, lumbar sympathectomy may be occasionally helpful. It aids in healing and giving relief from pain of ischemic ulcers. Use of vascular growth factor and stem cell injections have been showing promise in clinical studies. Debridement is done in necrotic ulcers. In gangrenous digitsamputation is frequently required.
Above-knee and below-knee amputation is rarely required. Streptokinase has been proposed as adjuvant therapy in some cases. Despite the Patch von Thrombophlebitis presence of inflammation in this disorder, anti-inflammatory agents such as corticosteroids have Patch von Thrombophlebitis been shown to be beneficial in healing, but do have significant anti-inflammatory and pain relief qualities in low dosage intermittent form.
Alle Ursachen von Krampfadern, strategies of anticoagulation have not proven effective, Patch von Thrombophlebitis. The cause of the disease is thought to be autoimmune in nature and heavily linked to tobacco use in patients with Buerger's as primary disease.
Buerger's is not immediately fatal. Prognosis markedly improves if a person quits smoking. Female patients tend to show much higher longevity rates than men. The only known way to slow the progression of the disease is to abstain from all tobacco products. Buerger's is more common among men than women. Although present worldwide, it is more prevalent in the Middle East and Far East Incidence of thromboangiitis obliterans is 8 to 12 peradults in the United States 0.
Buerger's disease was first reported by Felix von Winiwarter in in Austria. Both legs were affected, the right more seriously than the left. The King's doctors prescribed complete rest and electric treatment to stimulate circulation, but as they were either unaware of the connection between the disease and smoking the King was a heavy smoker or unable to persuade the King to stop smoking, the Patch von Thrombophlebitis failed to respond to their treatment.
The operation, as such, was successful, but the King was warned that it was a palliative, not a cure, and that there could be no assurance that the disease would not grow worse. From all accounts, the King continued to smoke. The author and journalist John McBeth describes his experiences of the disease, and treatment for it, in a chapter called 'Year of the Leg' in his book entitled Reporter. Forty Years Covering Asia.
